German Version...

--Pyramide 12:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Translation...

"Would it be possible to make a German Version of the olympus wiki?" Highway of Life 19:20, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

IMHO this is a good idea, because then both language versions of an article can be found at the same place which should make synchronizing them easier. If nobody knows a better way, I recommend adding a new namespace "de". Maybe we can also add the "in other languages" box like on wikipedia easily. --Pyramide 02:58, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Would be great if you could implement this. You'll have to think of a method yourself though ;-) Ab "other languages" box would definately be helpful though. naderman 16:28, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Done Olympuswiki:News#2007-03-04:_German_namespace --Pyramide 12:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't think we want links to the german version on all the pages themselves, did you find a way to list translations of a page in the sidebar? naderman 12:36, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
You could try en:Main_Page or de:Hauptseite

Sidebar

What do you think should be in the sidebar ("documentation" on the left side)? My proposal would be to make Categories and/or entry pages for the following topics and then put links to them in the sidebar:

  • Coding guidelines
  • Database (Tables, DBAL)
  • Styles (anything related to templates, styles etc.)
  • Extending phpBB (how to create new .php pages, modules, templates etc.)
  • API (how and when to use various functions and classes)

any comments or ideas for more/other topics? --Pyramide 16:14, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Sounds fine to me naderman 16:28, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
That would be good to start with, maybe also Tutorials. Highway of Life (talk) 17:42, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
I added a sidebar item Tutorials instead of "Extending phpBB" now, because a category with that name already existed. --Pyramide 04:11, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

About talk pages

I think, that if you will move the Template:TalkPage to MediaWiki:Talkpagetext you will not have to add the {{TalkPage}} to every talk page. I haven't tested it, but it should work. LEW21 12:17, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

<lang> or xx or en, <style> or xx or subSilver

We should decide, what should be used on the full wiki:

1. <lang> and <style>

2. xx

3. en and subSilver

I vote for 3rd option. LEW21 22:20, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Woo, that's tough between 1 and 3. My tendency would be to go for #1. Highway of Life (talk) 05:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Spammers

What do you think, should we block anonymous editing or keep deleting the spam? See Special:Log&type=delete --Pyramide 13:01, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Disabling anonymous editing seems to be the only reasonable way. When watching the recent changes there really is nothing but spam which makes it hard to keep track of actual changes. --Schumi 10:59, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
agreed naderman 00:34, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Now anonymous edits are disabled --Pyramide 21:54, 29 March 2007 (UTC) (UTC)

Maybe you will add visual confirmation for registration (or something like that)? There will not be so many spammers. LEW21 18:21, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
I installed the Spam blacklist extension on July 15th and it looks like it helps (no spam since then anymore).

Maybe you will try ConfirmEdit extension? It should stop most bots. LEW21 16:51, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Urgent :: Need better spam prevention

We need a better spam prevention system, we have hundreds of spam users registered, and I just got finished blocking 76 users who posted 32 spam pages and spammed 44 existing pages. Highway of Life (talk) 20:38, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Functions and Classes links

Category:Functions

Category:Classes

It seems to me the above two documentation links are missing in the main page (left menu side), or is it better to put them elsewhere?

Polish version

Polish version

There I have created the polish version of the wiki. I think the other and I will be able to edit more pages in the future... so please add it to the navigation menu ("other languages"):

Polski (polish)

and it would be nice to have something like this: [[it:Pagina principale]] but for pl: (it doesn't seem to work then probably you are responsible for creating a new prefix? :) )

[[pl:Strona_główna]]
